Rotarians Celebrate More Than $153,000 in Foundation Giving at a Texas Rangers Game

Sunrise Rotarians joined fellow Rotary Foundation supporters at Globe Life Field here in Arlington for a Texas Rangers game, where the scoreboard welcomed The Rotary Foundation with a message every Rotarian knows by heart: End Polio Now!

The evening was a thank-you to Rotarians whose gifts to The Rotary Foundation since May 1 have added up to more than $153,000 for PolioPlus, the Annual Fund, the Endowment, and Global Grants. Rotary Foundation Trustee Stephanie Urchick joined the group for a stadium tour and the game, and afterward she sent this note of thanks to Debbie Hogan.

A message from Trustee Stephanie Urchick

This year Rotary International President Yinka Babalola’s theme is Create Lasting Impact. Through your gifts to The Rotary Foundation since May 1st, you not only enjoyed wonderful fellowship and an exciting baseball game this past Wednesday, you created lasting impact through the Rotary programs and grants that will be made possible thanks to your generosity. Together you contributed over $153,000 for PolioPlus, the Annual Fund, the Endowment, and Global Grants. Thank you for your ongoing support of our Rotary Foundation!

As you know, I am a big sports fan and always appreciate it when Rotary and sports bring people together. Our host for the event – Karyn Brooks, along with her father Bob – could not have been happier sharing their Texas Rangers with such a passionate and fun group of Rotarians. I had the opportunity to connect personally with all of you in the suite and enjoyed making new acquaintances and catching up with old friends. As we spent time together during the tour and then the game, I could truly sense the Magic of Rotary.

I look forward to the next time we can be together, whether it be in Dallas again or perhaps the 2027 RI Convention in Barcelona. In the meantime, please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you or your Rotary club.

Thank you to hosts Karyn and Bob Brooks, to Trustee Urchick, and to every Rotarian whose generosity made this celebration possible. Gifts to The Rotary Foundation fund polio eradication, clean water, literacy, and peace projects around the world, and Arlington Sunrise Rotary is proud to be one of the most generous clubs in District 5790.

STEM Day at Adams Elementary a Grand Success

Sunrise Rotarians traded Friday breakfast for safety goggles and spent a day running hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math stations for students at Adams Elementary.

From building challenges to simple circuits, students rotated through stations led by club members and teachers. Thank you to the Adams Elementary staff for hosting us and to Youth Service Director Mel Crosier and the members who volunteered.

Youth service is one of Rotary’s five Avenues of Service, and programs like STEM Day, the Thornton Elementary chess club, RYLA, and our scholarship program are how Sunrise Rotary invests in the next generation of Arlington leaders.

Sunrise Rotary Named Small Business of the Year

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce has named the Rotary Club of Arlington Sunrise its Small Business of the Year (Not-for-Profit).

Thank you to the Chamber and to every member whose Friday mornings, flag routes, and fundraising made this possible. It is a recognition of 39 years of showing up for Arlington.

Turning Red into Blue: Morgan Kenyon Earns His Blue Badge

Congratulations are in order for Morgan Kenyon, who completed all of the requirements of our Red Badge program and turned in his Red Badge for a Blue Badge at Friday’s meeting.

Morgan was joined by his mentor James Watson, Membership Director David Berg, and President Alan Walter. The Red Badge program pairs every new member with a mentor and walks them through the club: greeting at the door, a classification talk, a board meeting, visits to two other clubs, a project, a flag subscription, and a gift to The Rotary Foundation.

Morgan now serves as the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms. Welcome to the blue, Morgan!
